How Makeba White Chanay, the Founder and CEO of B1 Ventures & Holdings, Inc. Is Redefining the Caregiving Industry
“The closest thing to being cared for is to care for someone else.” ― Carson McCullers, The Square Root of Wonderful.
Those who care the most about others understand vulnerability because of having experienced it. And when they find it in their power to make it easier for others, they ensure to do everything they can. Meet Makeba White Chanay, who is a fine example.
As a successful entrepreneur belonging to a minority, she is committed to giving back to the community and making other people’s lives better through her business endeavors. She is the founder of B1 Ventures & Holding, Inc., a healthcare management firm headquartered in Pearl, Mississippi, and HER Philosophy, LLC, a ministry, lifestyle, and movement to inspire people to realize their potential despite life’s setbacks by following the example of Makeba.
As the chairperson of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of B1 Ventures and Holdings, Makeba oversees the three entities of the business aimed at facilitating and empowering the vulnerable and the underprivileged to live better lives. B1 Nursing Care is a home care provider for the elderly and disabled. This subsidiary of Makeba’s business aims to promote a feeling of comfort with a personal touch in the clients’ homes.
B1’s Mississippi School of Health Services & Careers assists students by providing them with career paths that ensure their success. The school offers certificate programs in the Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Medical Billing & Coding, Phlebotomy, and CPR. The school also offers certificates and CEUs in COVID-19 and Community Healthcare Worker Training.
Today, Makeba is a celebrated business visionary and community leader. Her accomplishments are complemented by numerous accolades cementing her status. But it was only possible for her to achieve her goals by not giving up on her dreams amidst life’s inevitable hurdles. Besides her persistence and dedication, Makeba credits her faith in God for her success. Realizing the responsibilities of her influential status, Makeba aspires to empower others.
For this purpose, the non-profit 501c3, B1 Foundation, supports students through scholarships and provides opportunities for the unhoused population of the community. Makeba believes her ambition to help others is greatly responsible for her success. Proud of being the source of inspiration and support to those in need, Makeba aspires to extend her business into the adjoining states of Arkansas, Alabama, and Louisiana.
Hoping to inspire others through examples of remarkable African American women like herself, Makeba shares her plans for HER Philosophy aspiring to create a publishing arm for the brand. She also hopes to give more of her time to the movement to reach out to more people to remind them that they’re not alone and inspire them to turn their struggles into strengths.
